UMBRIA AND TUSCANY

TENTATIVE ITINERARY

 

  • DAY 1 APRIL 20th Mon. : ROME – ORVIETO – ASSISI

Arrive at Rome airport , meet with me and transfer by private bus to Assisi Via Orvieto. In Orvieto stop for a nice “ welcome lunch and wine tasting”. After lunch , a bit of time to stroll around the beautiful medieval town of Orvieto then continue to Assisi for dinner and overnigh. Possible overnight at BORGO BRUFA .

 

  • DAY 2 APRIL 21st Tue. : ASSISI

Today we take a short drive to the magnificent old town of Assisi. We gonna have here a walking guided tour of the town known to be one of the best preserved Medieval villages in Italy and to be also the birth place of S Francis of Assisi. At the end of the tour, time on your own to stroll around, to shop , get a glass of win, gelato then go with private vans up on the mountain Subasio to enjoy a spectacular view and have dinner in the farm “ Le mandrie di San Paolo”. Return to our hotel after dinner.

 

  • DAY 3 APRIL 22nd Wed. : FREE DAY

Our hotel has an amazing spa where you can relax. Leisure time. Dinner and overnight a tour hotel.

 

  • DAY 4 APRIL 23rd Thu. : ASSISI – CORTONA – CHIANTI HILLS

Today we leave Umbria and start our way to Tuscany region. We will stop in Cortona to visit this beautiful little town known for beign the set of two very famous italian movies : “ Under the Tuscan sun” and “The life is beautiful”. Free time to explore , shop and have a nice lunch. Continue to the Chianti Hills to reach our hotel Villa Poggio di Gaville for dinner and overnight.

 

  • DAY 5 APRIL 24th Fri. : FLORENCE

Today we spend our day in the “manger of Reinessance” , the marvellous city of FIRENZE. We will have a walking guided tour of the city including the Academia museum to see the David by Michelangelo, the cathedral , Piazza della Signoria , Ponte Vecchio, Santa Croce. At the end of the tour time pn your own to shop and leisure time. Return to our hotel in time for dinner and overnight.

 

  • DAY 6 APRIL 25th Sat. : SAN GIMIGNANO + COOKING CLASS

Today we go to San Gimignano to explore the ” town of the towers”. Here you will have free time to explore on your, for gelato or to climb one of the towers and enjoy a spectacular view of the Chianti Hills.. We return to our hotel to get ready for our cooking class followed by dinner.

  • DAY 7 APRIL 26th Sun. : CINQUE TERRE

Today we gonna be transferred by our bus to La Spezia train station to board the 5 terre train to go visit at least 3 or 4 (time permitting) of the famous 5 villages on the cliff of the Liguria coast : Manarola , Vernazza , Monterosso, Rio Maggiore. Return to the hotel in time for dinner and overnight.

 

  • DAY 8 APRIL 27th Mon. : SIENA + TRUUFLE HUNTING

Today we dedicate our morning to the well known Siena, city of the horse race “ Palio “ and S. Catherine of Siena. We gonna have a walking guided tour of the town wich will include the entrance to the magnificent gothic Cathedral , walking through the narrow streets and reach Piazza del Campo. Little free time on your own then return to the hotel where we will participate in a TRUFFLE HUNTING followed by dinner  at our hotel based on truffle recipes.

 

  • DAY 9 APRIL 28th Tue. : LUCCA + CHEESE TASTING

Today we dedicate our morning to the so facinating walled town of Lucca. We will joyn a walking guided tour of the city , for those of you who wish , possibility of bike ride on the medieval walls . Free time to explore and eat on your own then return to our hotel and go to a cheese tasting. Dinner and overnight a tour hotel.

 

  • DAY 10 APRIL 29th Wed. : DEPARTURE

Transfer to Florence airport to go back home! Arrivederci Italia!!!!!!!!!!!!

                

The hotels mentioned above are only an idea. No reservations made yet till the group start sign up. If those hotels are not gonna be available will be something similar. In the Chianti hills the hotel is more properly an AGRITURISMO.
